After a bad weekend for staffordshire following the defeat of premiership side Stoke City to the lowly, humble and deserving Hartlepool a far worse event has occured…

Sadly, in its 250th year, the world renowned Wedgwood has been sacrificed to the financial fate of administration.

After what can only be assumed as a frugal Christmas where numerous turkeys were eaten from a less distinctive and altogether poorer relation of dinner plate, the company is now forced to hold out a fine bone china begging bowl and hope that tradition and money can save it from extinction.

The factory produces the world-famous Wedgwood ceramics as well as the equally-prestigious Royal Doulton brand which was acquired by Waterford Wedgwood in 2004.
