Shock! Horror! Banks make huge profits! Criminals try to steal yours!

Some things never change but after the disasters of the banking crisis you may be surprised to know that banks appear to be making money again. With HSBC reporting profits of £7bn, Northern Rock £350m and Lloyds Banking Group £1.6bn. The truth is that they never actually stopped making money they just lost considerable sums when it was pointed out how over inflated world economy actually was.

Of more concern is that another computer trojan has been released into the world and is thought to have infected an estimated 100,000 Windows PCs targeting UK bank accounts. The Zeus trojan can allow control over a PC to harvest personal banking details and even access accounts to transfer or redirect payments. Though a large number of PCs are infected it doesn’t mean that everyone would be affected by the scam.

While the affected banks have not been named, it is recommended that if you have had to undertake any unexpected actions (i.e. reset password) recently that you should be cautious with your account.
